The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso is seeking an OB-GYN physician to join the General Obstetrics and Gynecology Division.

This is an open-rank, open-track faculty position.

The division has a busy clinical practice and is active in research and education. The successful candidate will be involved with clinical teaching and clinical research responsibilities, including at off- campus clinics. The candidate will be expected to participate in the education and surgical training of medical students, residents and fellows in clinic, classroom, labor and delivery, and operating room settings. 

Founded in 1973, TTUHSC El Paso is the only health sciences center on the U.S.-Mexico border that provides the opportunities and environment for direct intellectual and interpersonal exchanges among nursing, medical, and graduate research students on one campus. It is the fourth university in the Texas Tech University System and is comprised of three schools: the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing, and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.  TTUHSC El Paso’s physicians, clinics and partnering hospitals provide health care services to the El Paso region. In 2017, TTUHSC El Paso provided over $35 million in uncompensated care to El Pasoans in need.


The department is represented by all the major subspecialties in obstetrics and gynecology.

The ACGME-accredited OB-GYN residency program has five resident slots per year, for a total of 20 residents. Minimum Candidate Qualifications

  • M.D. degree.
  • Completion of residency in obstetrics and gynecology.
  • Board certification in obstetrics and gynecology.
  • License or eligibility for licensure in the state of Texas.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference for strong surgical experience with emphasis on patient safety and quality outcomes.
  • Experience in academics or advanced training in family planning/colposcopy/ultrasound or other gynecologic specialty areas would be strongly considered.
  • License or eligibility for licensure in the state of Texas.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Respect and appreciation for diversity.
  • 3-5 years’ experience preferred, but new graduates will be considered.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) helpful, but not required.
